V. Dolores Price

(Mar 12, 1924 to Apr 14, 2012)

For Dolores, nothing could replace the helping hand of a neighbor. During her 52 years in Delanco she offered a helping hand anyway she could. As far back as 1954 she was serving as a volunteer crossing guard. She was always fast to support a local candidate, and even threw her momentum behind the local police department when it was in jeopardy of being replaced. She literally helped keep the town clean by serving on the sewer authority and later acting as its financial liaison. Likewise, she was there to lend a hand for 11 years as a member of the Delanco Street Watch.rn Dolores is the wife of the late John E. “Jack” Price, and is survived by her daughter Patricia Reitter of PA, her two grandsons: John E. Shaffer (Trish) and Fred Shaffer (Nykki), both of PA, 8 great-grandchildren and her two step-daughters: Jackie and Renee. She is the sister of Sister Doris Marie Gonzalez, SSJ of PA and the late Joseph A. Gonzalez, Jr. and sister-in-law to Betty of Levittown and best friend to her dog, Mickey.rn Come celebrate Dolores’ 88 wonderful years (March 12, 1924-April 14, 2012) at a graveside service Saturday at 10 AM at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. Attendees can gather either at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside at 9:30 AM or at the cemetery at 10 AM.rn rn

What a memory for details and dates that would put engineers and attorneys to shame.I first met deloris when a former mayor made comments about getting rid of the police force. She stood up in front of a packed fire house and gave that mayor a piece of her mind. That was around 96 or 97 and i became involved with the twp after that.nFor the three years that i was on committee she was always in the audience and after that i had the pleasure of being on the sewer authority with her.It was great to see an engineer or a so called professional person try to pull the wool over her eyes. She could rattle off dates and money amounts and even recall what that person had said.I would even ask her for help when i could not remember and she is thirty years older than i.nWorking for the phone company i have too travel all over the state of NJ and we would talk on the phone.I remember i had to drive to Cape May on day and we talked for almost two hours. It made the time go fast. What a wonderful woman that to me was a friend that i will miss dearly.nI just had my hernia fixed on Friday and i am not sure if i can make it to the service. But i will try.
