Steven N Pappas

(Sep 14, 1960 to Feb 1, 2011)

“There is no personal charm so great as the charm of a cheerful temperament.” With his laid back attitude and joyful disposition, it’s no wonder why Steven was so popular with those around him. Regardless of what happened “no problem” was always his response. But his relaxed nature never masked his work ethic. Cutting his teeth in the family business, he was master chef who incorporated recipes from around the world, was managing the Dynasty Diner in Delran by age 17, and since 2003 he managed the Adelphia restaurant in Deptford. His summer vacations, though, were always spent in Greece. And although he loved the beaches there, he loved the heritage more. These traditions stayed with him back in the U.S. He loved Greek music, and his talent with the bouzouki was unrivaled. He began playing when he was 11, and by 12 was playing professionally. With his siblings they formed the Pappas Brothers, playing for the Bicentennial Celebrations in Philadelphia, and even twice on TV. rn Steven is survived by his daughter Angela Nicole Pappas of Delran, who was the center of his universe, and his father Nicholas (the late Tula) of Cherry Hill, his brother George (Rania) of Mt. Laurel, his Aunt Nula Mantzas of Delran, as well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the U.S. and in Greece. He was predeceased by his brother Angelo.rn Come celebrate his 50 laid back years (Sept. 14, 1960-Feb. 1, 2011) Friday 7-9 PM and Saturday from 11:30 AM at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, 615 Mercer St. Cherry Hill, NJ 08002, where the service will be celebrated at Noon. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the St. Thomas Building Fund at the above address. Arrangements by the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.rn

I was really sad reading about the passing of Steve Pappas. I met Mr. Pappas at the Delran Intermediate School where I work as a secretary. He was really nice and friendly. When I learned he worked at Adelphia’s in Deptford. He helped me plan a few family event. God Bless his daughter and his family.
