Patrick H. Murray, Sr.

()

An Irish Patriarch and born leader; Patrick was always in charge. He took his time when making his decisions, but once “I have decided” came from his lips, the course was set. Working in the shipping industry for 40 years found him traveling the world outfitting ships for everyone from the Disney Cruise Lines to the United States Navy. As a leader Pat invested in people, even taking the time to pick up their local accents. In Louisiana, you’d have sworn he was born in the bayou. After years of the traveling, retirement found him content at home reading and then yelling at the TV during Eagles, Phillies and Notre Dame games. Of course, once the neighbors found out Pat was a master craftsman, it was a natural fit for him to “manage” the volunteer painting brigade in his home development. As an Irish Patriarch he never strayed far from his roots and enjoyed the occasional sip of Irish Whiskey.

In 8th grade Bernice Regler commented that her best friend’s boyfriend, Joe Murray, was cute. Turns out Joe had a twin named Pat. They soon dated and danced on American Bandstand. After graduation from West Catholic High School, their marriage was blessed by 5 children: Mary Lou Gere (Gerald), Kathleen Gere, Patrick Jr, Michael (Karen) and John (Kelly). He was completely devoted to his family and dedicated to watching the successes of his 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Henry Jr, and John.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” -(A headstone in Ireland)

May the beautiful memories you treasure bring you comfort at this difficult time.

To one of the sweetest men I had the privilege to know and love. I never heard a harsh word come out of your mouth. You raised amazing and kind children and you loved them and my Aunt Bernice the way a father and husband should love his family. You were always so funny and I have so many great memories of you throughout my childhood and into my adulthood. I will miss you greatly and think of you often. Until we meet again “I have decided” to love you, think of you and talk to you often. I just want to also say thank you for being you . Love your niece and one of your biggest fans. Carol

Loyalty and integrity these are the words I think of when I think of you. Faithfulness to your family and friends, and honesty to everyone you knew. I will miss you Pat, but I know you will be looking down on us all. Until we meet again, I love you. Babs

Uncle Pat … an officer and a gentle man in the Book of Life. Always big fun, with a laugh as loud as the sun … and always a bigger heart. Oh yeah, and handsome! And loyal! And all things Murray-Clan- beautiful. Please remember us earthlings to the rest of the clan up there in the Big Sky. With much love and affection to all the family.

I read the obituary about the loss of your loved one and I extend my
sincere condolences. Death is truly an enemy but there is comfort
in the Holy Scriptures that “God will actually swallow up death
forever and certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” Isaiah 25:8

Continue to cherish the fond memories of Patrick and may you
continue to have the comfort from family and dear friends.
